No matter how stylish certain sunglasses may be, they will look downright awful if they do not complement your face. Believe us, we’ve tried on a lot of sunglasses. We know the drill.
If you have a square face shape, chances are that round frames and aviators will look best on you. The soft features characteristic of these types of sunglasses will set off your sharp face shape. On the other hand, do not — we repeat, do not — pick a pair of square sunglasses. Retro square and rectangular shades, although some of our personal favorites, will only accentuate your boxy face shape.
Below you will find what we believe to be the best sunglasses for square faces. If you have an oval, heart, or round face shape, check out our guide to find sunglasses that will look best on you.
Aviators
We shouldn’t need to sell you on a new pair of aviators. Originally worn by pilots, this style has been around since the 1930s and doesn’t appear to be leaving any time soon. Our Solar and Surfside aviators feature cool mirrored lenses, while our Fraser shades ditch the traditional metal frame for a modern plastic style.

Round Sunglasses
Get rid of the square shades and rock a pair of round sunglasses. If you’re not completely sold on the signature John Lennon style, go for a more subtle shape, like in our Galley sunglasses. On the flip side, our very round Newport and Sienna sunglasses are both versatile mixed media shades that feature both metal and plastic pieces.
