Series 5 of New Girl kicked off in the US this week and we don’t know about you…but we can’t wait to watch it when it airs here in the UK. The American sitcom is not just hilariously funny, but it stars one of our biggest style crushes here at SelectSpecs – Zooey Deschanel. The actress plays leading lady Jess who is known for her adorable geek-chic style and, of course, her amazing glasses.
The last 4 seasons of New Girl have given us plenty of inspiration when it comes to eyewear, not just from Jess but from the whole gang. So, let’s take a look at some of the most spec-tacular moments from New Girl so far and how you can get each look for yourself.
Jess’s Geek-Chic Glasses

This style is one that we’ve seen more than once while watching New Girl. Jess is regularly seen in a pair of prescription glasses and her round-framed pair create an iconic look that’s been setting trends since appearing on our screens. Jess’s Fab Rectangular Frames
Back in the first season of New Girl, Jess wore a different style of glasses to her more recent ones. The specs that first made us fall in love with her character featured rectangular frames instead of round. Jess is certainly a style queen when it comes to eyewear, but its not just prescription glasses that she rocks. If you’re a fan of New Girl, you might remember this scene from season three, when she wore this pair of sassy sunglasses. Teamed with a casual over-sized shirt, it’s a little different to her usual look, but we love it just the same. While we’re not sure what style Jess is wearing here fir certain, the distinctive shape has got to be Ray Ban RB2140 Original Wayfarer sunglasses in black.
Schmidt’s Awesome Aviator Glasses
It’s true that Jess is our main source of eyewear inspiration from the show, but she’s not the only New Girl character that can pull off a great pair of glasses. Who could forget this hilarious scene from season two, in which Schmidt is seen in a pair of amazing aviator glasses? These stylish specs gives him a cool retro look that’s so on trend. Nick’s Classically Cool Shades
In this episode from season three, we saw some slightly unusual looks from the New Girl gang as they took part in a comedy scene. While Jess dressed up in a cute cat costume and Winston wore an all-white suit, Nick hid his eyes behind a pair of shades.
