London Fashion Week has been and gone. And as ever, it happened in a flash with endless shows and presentations crammed into each day across varying locations in what felt like opposite ends of London, with approximately 120 coffee pit stops to get me through.
And as expected, everyone looked fabulous and every show was well-considered and inspired. But what really caught my attention this season was the amazing hair and makeup. So here are my AW16 beauty takeaways; read on for 4 on trend looks for Autumn / Winter 2016 and my top pick of specs that complement the trends perfectly.
Take a look at AW16 beauty looks from London Fashion Week and tips on how to style prescription glasses with your makeup…
1. Glittery Eyes
Shimmer shadows are said to be huge for SS16 and it seems that the trend will continue into AW16 too; but this time pimped up to the max with some gorgeous glitter, as seen backstage at the Burberry show. Talk about festival ready!
This look is absolutely ideal for late summer/early Autumn festival jaunts such as Bestival and it can easily teamed with everyday eyewear too. If you want to enhance your glittery festival look, these William Morris FANCY prescription glasses are a match made in heaven.
2. Embellishments

Stepping it up from the shimmer and glitter eyeshadows is the embellishment trend, something that was seen on models of a number of catwalks, including Markus Lupfer. This embellished makeup look for AW16 combines glitter pieces with metallic eye cream with some stunning gold foil; but you can achieve this beauty trend with stick on gems, face tattoo transfers or sequins.
With such stand-out makeup, opt for striking yet muted colours with your eyewear such as this Miu Miu MU08MV designer frame.
3. Youthful 60s Makeup

60s makeup has been a big hit for a number of seasons. But from the Topshop Unique catwalk, we see the 60s cateye liner come back with a twist! This time, the 60s makeup look is all about freshness and a barely there, youthful appearance; with key focus being on the catflick.
So ditch the foundation and leave the bronzer at home; go for a plain face with intense cat flick liner and team with either nude lips or a colourful lip colour. Team your fresh makeup look with a pair of cateye prescription glasses, like these Guess GU2462 specs which are available to buy in 5 fabulous shades.
4. Brushed Up Brows

Wherever you turn, there’s no getting away from the different brow trends. AW16 is all about brushed up brows and to be quite honest with you, there’s definitely no need to wait until Autumn/Winter to start brushing because this trend started like yesterday. If you haven’t spotted it, where have you been?
Well if you’re new to this makeup look, AW16 runways at London Fashion Week have confirmed it for us; brushing upwards is all the rage. So grab a spoolie and copy the likes of designer Ryan Lo and his models and brush for the high heavens!
Brushed brows help to frame the face so opt for some specs that do the same. Like these Booth & Bruce Here and Now BB1509 prescription glasses which come in a unisex design.
