February 2017, New York – Womenswear label Haus Alkire, presented its Autumn/Winter 2017 collection at The Flea Theater with key looks complemented by optical eyewear and sunglasses from Austria-based brand neubau eyewear.
The collection is filled with points inspired by the art direction of Henry Bumstead.
The famed art director/production designer was known for his acute attention to detail and ability to transform environments into supporting characters in such films as Vertigo, Million Dollar Baby, Gran Torino, Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil, Slaughterhouse Five, Cape Fear, and To Kill a Mockingbird. His two-time Academy Award winning career spanned over thirty-five years working with legendary directors Alfred Hitchcock, Clint Eastwood, and George Roy Hill.
With their fresh, urban appeal, neubau eyewear served as an ideal accessory for the Haus Alkire aesthetic, underscoring the two brand’s shared values of modern, innovative design blended with creativity and craftsmanship. The Alkires live in the TriBeCa neighborhood of New York City. There they operate their own retail atelier where they work one-on-one with walk-in and private appointment clients. Recently, the designers were named to the 2016-2018 CFDA Fashion Incubator 4.0 and were certified by the Made in NY Fashion initiative.
Haus Alkire partners Jason Alkire and Julie Haus chose to utilize neubau eyewear frames throughout the show to underscore this thematic motif, while also serving as an ideal aesthetic complement to the collection’s signature colors and shapes. Working to accentuate the quirkiness and sophisticated nuances of each garment, the designers felt that featuring neubau eyewear styles, such as Toni, Joseph, James and Edmund (launching in April 2017), allowed the models and the clothes to take on unique personas.
