Last night, our favourite female celebrities (and some male ones too) attended the 2016 Glamour Women of the Year Awards. The Glamour Awards celebrate the achievements of successful women in the world of music, entertainment, fashion sports and more. This year’s winners included Jess Glynne (Breakthrough Award), Elizabeth Banks (Filmmaker of the Year) and Susan Sarandon (The Glamour Inspiration award).
Obviously, the event is about much more than just pretty outfits, but like any award ceremony, the Glamour Awards are a big event in the fashion calendar. And the stars did not dissapoint this year, as they dressed to impress on the red carpet. We saw some statement looks and some big trends that are inspiring us for SS16.
If you’re still waiting for an invite to a red carpet event this summer, one of the easiest ways to incorporate the hottest celebrity trends into your wardrobe is with a great pair of glasses. Here are some of our favourite looks from the Glamour Awards 2016, and some gorgeous glasses to match.
Pretty Embellishments
Our inaugural Manuka Doctor YouTuber of the Year award goes to @tanyaburr – Tanya is a true Millenial Mogul with a bestselling book, her own cosmetics range and an army of followers. And last year she landed her first GLAMOUR cover, too #GlamourAwards @manukadr
Vlogger and beauty guru Tanya Burr showed off one of our favourite looks of the night as she collected her YouTuber of the Year award. Her stunning dress featured a full length sheer black lace skirt which was embellished all over with coloured flowers.
If you want to add some Tanya-inspired floral embellishment to your look this summer, the Dolce & Gabbana DG3224 glasses are a subtle and wearable style for everyday wear. Classic black frames feature three-dimensional red flowers on each temple.
Contemporary White
Amazing evening, had an absolute ball! Thank you @joelvinglamour and @glamouruk #glamourawards A photo posted by myleeneklass (@myleeneklass) on Jun 7, 2016 at 4:01pm PDT
White is a huge trend for summer 2016; it’s bright, fresh and offers a wearable alternative to black. Myleene Klass showed us how to pull off the all-white look on the Glamour Awards red carpet, with her contemporary white tailored jumpsuit. She teamed it with gold jewellery and an up-do for a simple but stylish look.
To lighten up your look this summer, try a pair of white-framed glasses (they’re easier to keep clean than an all-white outfit!) Inspired by Myleene’s look, we’ve picked the Marc Jacobs MMJ 638 wayfarer glasses.
Shimmering Metallics
The aca-amazing @elizabethbanks is our Filmmaker of the Year ? The actress made her directorial debut on Pitch Perfect 2, which had the biggest opening *ever* for a musical comedy, and has made over £200m worldwide to date Stanley Tucci presented the award to his Hunger Games co-star #GlamourAwards
American actress Elizabeth Banks attended the 2016 Glamour awards, where she won the Filmmaker of the Year award for Pitch Perfect 2. Elizabeth looked stunning in a shimmering metallic number. Her midi length flapper-inspired dress was covered in sparkling sequins.
While full-on sparkles might not work for every occasion, you can add a little shimmer to your eyewear style with a pair of glittering glasses. The William Morris FANCY glasses feature glamorous semi-rimless frames in a silver glitter finish.
Black and Blue

Holly Willoughby ditched her usual girly style for a more edgy look last night, with a look that has divided opinions. We loved her amazing outfit, which featured black trousers and an unusual light blue top and cape.
This bold black and blue colour combination is reminiscent of the classic Tiffanys look. If you want to steal Holly’s two-tone style, check out the Tiffany & Co. TF2094 glasses which feature black frames and Tiffany blue arms.
Fabulous Floral Print

Flowers are a summer essential and a trend that emerges every year without fail. Amanda Holden opted for this classic summer look last night, as she wore a wonderful floor length fishtail dress in a fabulous floral print.
Amanda revealed that her dress was by Dolce & Gabbana, the masters of fashionable florals. Luckily, you can embrace this look in eyewear with D&G’s collection of glasses. The DG3203 ALMOND FLOWERS glasses feature frames with a feminine floral print all over.

Last but not least, British model Neelam Gill brought some sunshine to the Glamour red carpet with her beautiful yellow dress. Yellow is a perfect choice for summer and is one of the hottest colours for 2016.
If you’re not ready to rock a full yellow outfit, add a little colour to your look with a pair of sunny yellow specs instead. Our Savannah 8121 wayfarer glasses with yellow frames are an easy and affordable way to try this trend, at jut £10!
