We know, we know…summer hasn’t even arrived yet and we’re already talking about fall? Well it may seem a little early to be thinking about autumn just yet, but we couldn’t ignore these amazing new images from Gucci.
The luxury fashion house shared their pre-fall 2016 video last week alongside a range of Instagram posts to give us a taste of what’s to come after SS16. And just as you would expect from Gucci, the campaign was full of gorgeous clothes and amazing eyewear. Take a look at the official video to see what we mean:
The campaign video was directed by Glen Luchford and stars Nicole Atieno, Polina Oganicheva, Lia Pavlova and Lucas Dambros to name a few.
According to Gucci, the video is set inside a glass aviary and features a cast of care-free characters who are surrounded by tropical plants, flocks of flamingos and piles of old books. The eclectic space reflects the collection’s riot of cheerful colours, playful textures and bold patterns.
Just like the SS16 shoot, Gucci’s new campaign has a very vintage vibe. Clothing and accessories are inspired by seventies style, with flowing dresses, flared trousers, fur coats and headscarfs. And the eyewear worn by the models has a cool vintage look too, along-side a heavy dose of geek chic – a look that’s quickly becoming Gucci’s signature style.
So, what eyewear styles should we be wearing next season? Let’s take a look at some of the key trends from Gucci’s latest campaign video.
Statement Specs

These statement Gucci frames are one of the most stand-out styles from the campaign. Polina Oganicheva wears a pair of black accetate glasses studded with clear stones for an eclectic look, especially when paired with gold fingerless gloves!
While these quirky shades may be a little too much for everyday wear, you can take inspiration by looking for bold shapes and unusual patterns or embellishments. The Gucci GG 3559 glasses make a statement with Gucci branding and a patterned frame. These stylish frames are suitable for any occasion and fit perfectly with the unconventional aesthetic of the Gucci pre-fall lookbook.
Over-sized Frames
Geek chic glasses ruled the Gucci pre-fall campaign, and these over-sized specs are a perfect example, proving that this look never gets old. Large square-shaped frames in havana brown have a vintage, bookish look that’s set to be a big trend for SS16 and beyond.
To get the geek chic look, go for square frames – the bigger the better. We love the Gucci GG 3768 glasses, which feature large wayfarer-style frames in havana brown and coloured arms for a contemporary twist.
Aviator & Round Glasses

Last but not least, this shot from the new Gucci campaign features two amazing pairs of eyewear. First up, we have a classic geek chic look that we’ve already seen in Gucci’s SS16 campaign – the over-sized aviator specs. Featuring gold metal frames and paired with a floral dress and beret, the seventies vibes are strong with this look.
And providing eyewear inspiration for the men, Anton Toftgard sports a pair of retro round glasses. His circular acetate specs are so on trend and add an itellectual look to his pre-fall outfit. Copy this look with the Gucci GG 1040 glasses, featuring simple round frames in dark brown.
So, what do you think of Gucci’s eclectic eyewear style in their pre-fall campaign? Love it or loathe it?
New season Gucci glasses will be arriving at SelectSpecs soon, but in the meantime you can shop our full range of Gucci eyewear online.
