Eyewear Now And Then: Upswept Sunwear

Posted on December 17, 2016

Over the last several years we have seen the cat-eye take on some very dramatic looks. The upsweep is akin to the raised eyebrow, the look of surprise? The look can be layered over a round frame or a square frame or even another cat-eye.

Is this look new? The Harlequin look came in the 1940’s- 50’s. We see the first upsweep n the late 1940’s early 50’s with a the Sol Amor Sunglass. Note the upsweep over the the eye wire.

The next time it makes it’s appearance is from the late 1990’s from the EOS collection from Neostyle. The metal rims came in several shapes with colored Wings.
