The Primetime Emmy Awards provide a yearly showcase for the best in television. At this year’s Emmy Awards, some of televisions finest actresses wore stunning gowns from ethereal neutrals and pastels to bright pops of orange and blue.
Zooey Deschanel selected a modern ball gown shape in pale blue by Reem Acra, while Heidi Klum decided on goddess draping and slits nearly to her waist. Although she went nude for Jimmy Kimmel’s edgy Emmy Awards opener, Lena Dunham of Girls fame went for a decidedly more conservative floor-length blue gown with navy lace overlay in Prada. Jane Levy from Suburgatory and Michelle Dockery from Downton Abby selected brighter blue hues that perfectly complimented their fair complexions.
Vibrant Blue
A number of attendees went for major pops of color to the Emmy Awards with Julianne Moore, Julie Bowen and Claire Danes all daring to go bright in yellow. The elegant Padma Lakshmi wowed in a nearly neon orange, and Ginnifer Goodwin stunned in a Monique Lhuillier gown with a delicate tangerine overlay. Girls actress Allison Williams selected an elegant green Oscar de la Renta while Modern Family’s Sofia Vergara amped up her green Zuhair Murah with a mermaid shape and top to bottom sequins. Making a head-to-toe color statement, Kelly Osborne’s hair color was dyed to match her lilac gown.
Pop of Color
On the other end of the spectrum, actresses such as Emily VanCamp, Kristen Wiig, and Jessica Paré selected flowing and draped pale colored dresses to the Emmy Awards. Christina Hendricks’ neutral gown included a satin sheen and Nicole Kidman’s Antonio Berardi featured blue sequin embroidered details. Proving that black is anything but basic, January Jones paired a sleek bun with a black Zac Posen with transparent details, Amy Pohler shimmered in Stella McCartney and Melissa McCarthy kicked up her custom Daniela Kurrle gown with a gold studded clutch.
