After his killer year on top of the Hollywood style ladder, we probably have enough Ryan Gosling material to do a “Daily Gos” post every day in 2012, and for easy winter style, pardon us (yet) another examination at this past weekend’s look. Gosling, like practically every other Tinseltown sartorial icon before him, arguably looks best in the basics: channeling McQueen with that iconic Persol frame (they’re the new Wayfarers you know), and shearling-lined jacket. The last few years have seen such an overkill of layering, that it’s feeling fresh to let staples shine: a denim jacket and tee, a chambray shirt and tweed jacket. Top it off with a loosely-tied scarf and get moving. I mean, when you’re introducing Eva Mendes to your mom, odds are you’ve already tackled the tough part, so keep it simple. (Editor’s Note: we solemnly swear not to mention Gosling again at least until March (the Ides, ya know). Come to think of it, that’s just a downright irresponsible promise.
