The American Music Awards highlighted some of this year’s pop stars as it celebrated its 40th year. A populist alternative to the Grammy Awards, the American Music Awards are known for a youthful focus by allowing music fans to be part of the voting process.
At this year’s award, our standout favorite eyewear style came courtesy of presenter Jenny McCarthy who was perfectly on-trend wearing sleek cat eye glasses. Perhaps inspired by the youthful vibe at the American Music Awards, Jenny McCarthy seized the moment to grab this year’s Favorite Artist of the Year, Justin Bieber, in an impromptu and cougar-esque embrace.
As with many of his red carpet attendees, Justin Bieber chose to accessorize with a dark pair of browline sunglasses with a matte black finish. His mentor, Usher, arrived with an ornate style to match his larger-than-life personality at the American Music Awards.
New pop star, and worldwide sensation, Psy, was paired with MC Hammer who provided a blast from the past in ‘Hammer-style’ harem pants and sunglasses while performing a mash-up of “Gangnam Style” and “Too Legit to Quit”.
Other past favorites included the Backstreet Boys and Linkin Park who showed united fronts at the American Music Awards. Chester Bennington of Linkin Park wore aviator sunglasses on the red carpet, and picked up his band’s Favorite Alternative Artist Award wearing a pair of his trademark bold black frames.
